An open call for public art and placemaking projects.

Cities evolve, even when their buildings stay the same.

To create better urban lives, perhaps we don't need to build more — but to rethink what's already here?

challenge

This open call invites artists, architects, designers, and creatives of all backgrounds to propose public art projects for city spaces.

From pop-up installations and street art to sculptures or functional objects, we are seeking ideas that reflect a place's identity and bring new meanings and uses to the existing environment.

Can public art become more than decoration — bringing not only beauty, but also purpose and care to our shared "third spaces"? Can it help make our cities fuller, healthier, and happier places to live?

Why Public Art Matters

Art goes beyond aesthetics — it is a powerful tool for change, shaping the cultural, social, economic, and environmental life of our cities.

  • Defines identity — it gives each place a distinct character and sense of belonging.
  • Builds connection — it invites dialogue, participation, and deeper relationships within communities.
  • Revitalises spaces — it can integrate new areas into the urban fabric and breathe life into neglected sites.
  • Improves wellbeing — research shows that access to art in public space can make cities feel up to 17% safer and reduce stress levels by around 20%.
  • Supports local economies — public art can increase area value and boost local business revenue by 10–15%.
